Africans and people of African descent around the world are encouraged to participate in African Collective Brotherhood Month by pledging to 31 Days of Brotherly Love throughout the month of March. This initiative promotes unity, peace, understanding, brotherhood, and collaboration within the diverse Global African community.

What is the 31 Days of Brotherly Love pledge?

It is a pledge to do the following throughout March for the sake of African/Black Brotherhood/Sisterhood among our people worldwide.

I will…

  1. Make a conscious effort to greet other Africans I encounter throughout the day, even those I might not know.
  2. De-escalate disagreements I am involved in with other African people, finding amicable solutions and intentionally avoiding conflict.
  3. Stand against all forms of slander directed toward African people and reject external attempts to create divisions within the black community.
  4. Actively seek opportunities to uplift and celebrate the achievements of people of African descent.
  5. Support businesses, endeavors, and passions of African people whenever possible.
  6. Make a sincere effort to forgive those who have wronged me and seek reconciliation in my relationships with other Africans.
  7. Take pride in the Triumphs and Excellence of African people in every endeavor.
  8. Consider all African people throughout the continent of Africa and the global African diaspora as ‘My Brother and Sister.’
  9. Remember that all African people within the past 500 years have endured some form of slavery, colonization, genocide, war, oppression, and/or discrimination for many years. Since we are rebuilding mentally, physically, and spiritually and are at different stages of growth, I will seek opportunities to assist in helping my brothers and sisters thrive.
  10. Remember that the success of Africa and any of her children worldwide is a success for all African people.

I will not…

  • Intentionally avoid eye contact with and refuse to acknowledge other Black/African people whom I encounter and would typically ignore.
  • Defame, degrade, libel, or otherwise speak maliciously of any African or person of African descent to an audience via social media or any form of written content.
  • Entertain slander in any form of other African/Black people by individuals or media.
  • Entertain interjected divisions among African/Black people.
  • Allow strife and/or contention in any matter with another African/Black person.
  • Put down or intentionally discourage other Africans and people of African descent.
  • Ignore and/or refuse to support the Businesses, Events, Work, and Passions of other Africans and people of African descent.
  • Harbor hate in my heart towards my people.
  • Be indifferent concerning the Triumphs and Excellence of our people in every endeavor.
  • Disassociate myself from my African identity and the brotherhood of African people worldwide.
  • Ignore the reality that the success of Africa and her children around the world is success for all African/Black people.
  • Forget that all African/Black people within the past 500 years have endured some form of slavery, colonization, genocide, war, oppression, and/or discrimination for many years. We are in the process of rebuilding mentally, physically, and spiritually therefore, we will be careful to be patient with each other, knowing that we are all at different stages in our rebuilding and growth and that as we help each other we will thrive together as a people.
